A determined man

I have many wonderful memories of John and believe that I was "on his wavelength".

I remember standing with him at the bar of the Bromley Tennis and squash club and, after a good game, we were just chatting and he told me that he was going out on his own to set up his own agency, leaving behind the security of a fairly well paid employment. I admired his determination but suspected that he might find it harder than he imagined. Some time later I was returning from my fairly well paid employment and travelling home through Bromley in my company car about 6.30pm on a friday when I saw John, laden with samples walking up the high street. I called out to him to see if he fancied a chat and a drink, but he advised me that he was about to make a sales call at Allders and would not be out for a couple of hours at least. He maintained this enthusiasm and committment through his business and personal life and, mixed with his unique humour and charisma, achieved deserved status and respect from his friends and peers. I feel privileged to have been able to call him a good friend

I will miss my comrade
