John & Monica became very good friends to our Mum & Dad when Charlotte & I were kids. We developed close bonds with them through inclusion in our parent's growing busy social lives. Squash club discos became regular occasions; there were many long, lazy, late summer parties, BBQs and wonderful family holidays in various resorts in southern Europe. Our Mum & Dad always looked forward & seemed so happy to be sharing his company; memories of those times with John are gladly plentiful.
John had a huge influence on our childhood, he was a hero to me in particular. He was gentle and had a brilliant sense of humour; he would reduce a roomful of adults to tears of laughter. He was gentle & charming, but also rude (in a funny way), but always loving, kind and generous. He was successful and shrewd and strong; someone who inspired us and I wanted to be like him when I grew up. John was a second Dad to us and we will remember him with love forever.
